Intro to Radio & Podcasting (Stockport & Tameside)

This programme will see you take part in several informal training sessions at Gaydio HQ, delivered in partnership with WEA. Sessions will focus on creating your own radio content, building your confidence behind the mic, and gaining real hands-on experience in broadcasting:

Course Layout

  1. Introduction to Radio and how to become a radio presenter

  2. Show content & news presenting

  3. Other roles in radio & a look at music

  4. CV, job searching and LinkedIn session with Liselle Sheard

  5. Storytelling with BBC's Emma Goswell

  6. Prep for the podcast

  7. Podcast creation, a session exploring the next stage progression tailored to the participant's specific needs and next steps with Gaydio and other radio stations

  8. 1-2-1's

Location, Dates and Times

Location: Gaydio HQ

Date: 19th January to 28th January 2026 (Weekdays only, no weekends)

Time: Morning Session (10am to 2pm)

Cost: Free for all participants (that meet the criteria below)

Criteria

Please note that you must reside in either Stockport or Tameside to apply for this course. If you do then please see the criteria below for the course:

  • If you're a resident of Stockport, you have to be:

- Aged 16+

- Must not be working (This includes full-time, part-time or self-employed)

  • If you're a resident of Tameside, you have to be:

- Aged 16 to 24

- Must be classed as NEET (Not in employment, education or training)

 

Also, you must not have done a previous 'Intro to Radio & Podcasting' course with Gaydio
