Intro to Radio & Podcasting (London)

In partnership with The Kings Trust, The Gaydio Academy is offering training in radio skills, confidence-building, and mentoring.

The program provides participants with an introduction to the radio industry, hands-on experience in content creation, and a personal portfolio to support future volunteering and work experience opportunities."

Course Layout

  1. Taster session

  2. Introduction to radio and how to become a radio presenter

  3. Show content & news presenting

  4. Other roles in radio & a look at music

  5. Specialist CV, LinkedIn & portfolio session

  6. Creating your own station, job searching in the industry and preparation for the creation of your podcasts

  7. Podcast creation, a session exploring the next stage progression tailored to participant's specific needs and next steps with Gaydio and other radio stations

Time: 10am to 4/4:30pm

Cost: Free for all participants (who meet the criteria below)

Criteria

  • You must be 16-30 years old

  • Must be living in the Greater London area

  • Must be available for all dates above

  • Must be classified as NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) or Economically Inactive. You are also classified if you are NEET if you are:

          - On a zero-hours contract

          - Working for less than 16 hours per week (including self-employment)

          - In education for less than 14 hours per week

          - Doing only voluntary work

          - In custody

  • Must not have done a previous 'Intro to Radio & Podcasting' course with Gaydio
