Intro to Radio & Podcasting 2024 - Awards For All (Birmingham)

The Gaydio Academy in partnership with Awards For All Birmingham delivered radio and work skills training, peer support and mentoring as part of 'Intro to Radio & Podcasting 2023 & 2024'.

Learners took their first steps in radio, got an overview of the industry as a whole and then moved on to create content to help talk about the LGBTQ+ community in Birmingham.

News Demo

During one session, participants took part in creating a news report from scratch and recorded this live. Taking current news stories, they constructed a journalist layout to present this on-air. Individually, they recorded and then edited this down to the final feature. Please see below one example, created and voiced by Kavan, Maya & Sam:

Podcasting

The end goal of the week was for each participant to produce a podcast in a group that they could take away with them on topics the groups could relate to but also along the lines of the LGBTQ+ community in Birmingham. Below is the podcast created by Calyspo & Bec's:
